Last night, well technically our this mid morning/afternoon, at 香港迪士尼樂園 | Hong Kong Disneyland, they introduced and previewed their new nighttime parade Disney Paint the Night. There were a couple videos out there, but this seemed to be the one that was clearest and also showed the show stop as well. Ive been really looking forward to this parade, seeing it was made by the same team that did Mickeys Soundsational at Disneyland and Festival of Fantasy in the Magic Kingdom, and it does not disappoint. This is the first Disney nighttime parade made entirely with LEDs and fiber optics and its extremely dynamic and beautiful. In terms of design, it really is like if you took Main Street Electrical Parade and Spectromagic, merged them together and modernized it. The float units are also insane, both in size and what theyre doing. The opening Tinker Bell unit blew me away, as did the Monsters Inc unit, the Toy Story unit and the Finale unit. The music also surprised me, because its a mash-up of When Can I See You Again? From Wreck-It Ralph, which is an interesting choice, and the Main Street Electrical Parade theme, coupled with the unit specific music. The show stop is for the Guests to Paint the Night as well, in that the costumes are also interactive with either an infrared or RFID receiver in them with the transmitter being the Mickey Glow Paintbrush where the guests Paint the Night by pointing the paintbrush at the performer and it changes the colors of the lights in response to the color chosen on the paintbrush. The parade is also Glow with the Show enabled. Overall, this is an absolutely stunning parade which Im clamoring to see now, and Im not a huge parade guy. Also, if the rumor mill is to be believed, as they were constructing this parade, apparently there was a duplicate of it being constructed at the same time. Maybe for somewhere that doesnt currently have a night time parade. Heres looking at you Disneyland...
