Last night while elbow-deep in meatballs, I thought, I love it - TopicsExpress

Last night while elbow-deep in meatballs, I thought, I love it when I can help someone-- even if its just a little bit. Later, when car after car pulled into my driveway with baked goods to sell today, I thought, How wonderful it is that the community comes together to help someone in need. This morning when we had citizens lined out the door, patiently awaiting quarts of soup and to purchase cookies, breads and muffins, I thought, This proves the power of social media. When I looked around the room and saw tears in the eyes of my friends and empty tables that were laden with food hours before I thought, This is the power of love. If you handed us money, sent checks, baked us something yummy, gave up your time on a Friday morning to lend a hand, drove to Bells Chevrolet to purchase soup, chicken and noodles, cookies, pies, breads or whatever, I thank you from the very bottom of my heart. We began selling at 9 a.m. as we were putting items out on the tables and by 12:30 p.m., were completely sold out. And that money, those quarters, dollars, fives and tens will help a local family dealing with a devastating prognosis. We cant thank you enough. Words are trifling little things that seem so very inadequate when looking into the eyes of someone hurting so much but brimming with tears for the graciousness and goodness of friends, neighbors and local citizens who care. But the best I can offer at this moment is my deepest, most-heartfelt thanks for my friend. Once again, Tyler County supports and cares for her own. And if youve ever considered living anywhere else in the world, today proved to me that no other town, neighborhood, county or state could ever care as much as we do.
