Last nights forum was unique in a couple of ways. It was free and open to anyone who wanted to come in the door. Second, it was spurred by a social media platform that is simply an online gathering space for people interested in Corona and its future. Technology has changed how we interact with each other and our government. Why is this important? Its important because our local government is the level of governance that most affects our daily lives. Local representatives live and work in Corona and their decisions have a significant impact on us. We want to know what they think, what they plan to do if they are elected. Do they represent our concerns? Everyday citizens who dont want to pay for access through the Chamber or listen to a partisan forum still want to know what we are getting for our tax dollars. We want to cast an informed ballot. I want to thank all of the candidates for participating in a forum that was put together by citizens not connected to an organization or business. I also want to thank everyone for attending. I truly enjoyed meeting the people behind the thumbnail FB photos. This was the best view of the forum for me.
