Last nights text conversation: Eddie: Hope your day went well. I miss you. Court: Very sweet, thx. Now the $64,000 question: who sent me these kind wishes? Eddie: Who do you think? Court: hmmm. Who would miss me. Let me think...its not god, is it? Hes always borrowing other peoples phones and crank texting me. The 917 number is tricky - cant think of anybody with that prefix whod miss me. 347 would be a different story. Im very popular in that area code. Give me a hint. Eddie: I was once rejected by Brad Pitt. Eddie: in my own fantasy. Court: well weve all been rejected by Brad Pitt. Eddie: Where are you? Court: Im on Franklin Street begging for subway tokens. Getting blank stares. Apparently they stopped producing them in 1987. Who knew? Eddie: well hurry up. Court: I was just evicted by the police. Turns out begging for subway tokens is only legal on Roosevelt Island. Eddie: you should only beg for cash or travelers checks -- or gum. Court: I tried gum, but it doesnt taste as good when its pre-chewed. Eddie: its not about the taste. Its that its free. Court: the depth of that statement goes to infinity. Court: still no closer to your identity. Eddie: me either - Im still finding myself. Court: nice! Eddie: whats taking you so long? I thought you were close to home. Court: home? Wheres that? Eddie: okay, so apparently you have my boyfriends old number. I really thought you were him being silly. Sorry to have bothered you. Have a good night. Court: really? So you didnt actually miss me? If this were a movie, wed fall for each other and live happily ever after. Anyway, youre a very clever and funny girl. It was fun texting with you. Eddie: well it was fun texting with you too. Although the movie would probably have more of a surprise ending since Im a guy. Court: wow! Cool! Much better ending.
