He began publishing the PLAIN TRUTH magazine in 1934 and is its editor in chief. Herbert Armstrong has visited more than 70 countries proclaiming the gospel of the Kingdom of God, and has been highly honored by heads of state in such crucial areas as Japan, China, Black and South Africa, Isreal and Egypt. Now in his nineties, Mr Armstrong continues to write, broadcast and preach the good news that God will intervene to save mankind in this generation. Did you ever ask yourself: Who am I? What am I? Why am I? You are a mystery. The world about you is a mystery. Now, you can understand. Why do most people believe the things they believe? Few, indeed, ever stop to ask themselves in retrospect how they came to accept the beliefs that have found lodgment in their minds. Ch. The Source of TRUTH. You probably have seen pictures of the statue The THINKER. A man sitting alone, leaning forward, elbows on his knees, his hand supporting his head. There, supposedly, he sits in deep thought, hour after hour, day after day- just thinking! Supposedly that statue depicts the manner in which some of the religions of the world came into being. But The Thinker had nothing to think from! No foundation for.his thinking. No facts on which to base his conjectures. The human mind is not equipped to manufacture truth with no basis for that truth! However, few, it seems, really think! Most accept carelessly what they are taught from childhood. And, coming into maturity, they accept that which they have repeatedly heard, read or been taught. They continue to go along, usually without question, with their peers. Most people do not realize, but they have carelessly assumed what they believe without question or proof. Yet they will defend vigorously and emotionally their convictions. It has become human nature for people to flow with the stream- to go along with the crowd- to believe and perform like their peers around them. Further, most people stubbornly refuse to believe what they are unwillingly to believe. Theres an old saying, He who is convinced against his will is of the same opinion still. I was no different. Of myself, and of my own volition, I would have never discovered these GREAT TRUTHS. But then, the prophet Moses never would have discovered the truths he wrote- the first five books of the Bible. It required a miraculous act of God, in THE INCIDENT OF THE BURNING BUSH, TO OPEN HIS MIND AND TO REVEAL TO HIM THE THINGS OF GOD. Moses and I did not seek God. God called and drafted Moses. Even on being confronted by the very voice of God, Moses protested. He stuttered! He felt that he could not qualify for the task. God said he would have Moses brother Aaron be his spokesman and brought Moses to acquiescence. Gods command was and IS irresistible. Moses yeilded. Such basic TRUTHS are revealed, not thought out in any human mind. They come from God, not man! And in all biblically recorded cases the initiative was Gods. Jeremiah protested that he was too.young. But God said: Do not say, I am only a youth; for to all to whom I send you you shall go, and whatever I command you you shall speak Jeremiah 1:7. Isaiah protested that he was man of unclean lips, but God caused him to accept the appointed mission. Genesis 1:11-12 (NKJV) 11 Then God said, “Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb thatyields seed, and the fruit tree thatyields fruit according to its kind, whose seed is in itself, on the earth”; and it was so. 12 And the earth brought forth grass, the herb that yields seed according to its kind, and the tree that yields fruit, whose seed is in itself according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. Genesis 1:29 (NKJV) 29 And God said, “See, I have given you every herb that yields seed which is on the face of all the earth, and every tree whose fruit yields seed; to you it shall be for food. Genesis 9:3 (NKJV) 3 Every moving thing that lives shall be food for you. I have given you all things, even as the green herbs. Exodus 3:1-15 (NKJV)Moses at the Burning Bush 3 Now Moses was tending the flock of Jethro his father-in-law, the priest of Midian. And he led the flock to the back of the desert, and came to Horeb, the mountain of God. 2 And the Angel of the Lord appeared to him in a flame of fire from the midst of a bush. So he looked, and behold, the bush was burning with fire, but the bush was not consumed.3 Then Moses said, “I will now turn aside and see this great sight, why the bush does not burn.” 4 So when the Lord saw that he turned aside to look, God called to him from the midst of the bush and said, “Moses, Moses!” And he said, “Here I am.” 5 Then He said, “Do not draw near this place. Take your sandals off your feet, for the place where you stand is holy ground.” 6 Moreover He said, “I am the God of your father—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.” And Moses hid his face, for he was afraid to look upon God. 7 And the Lord said: “I have surely seen the oppression of My people who are in Egypt, and have heard their cry because of their taskmasters, for I know their sorrows. 8 So I have come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up from that land to a good and large land, to a land flowing with milk and honey, to the place of the Canaanites and the Hittites and the Amorites and the Perizzites and the Hivites and the Jebusites. 9 Now therefore, behold, the cry of the children of Israel has come to Me, and I have also seen the oppression with which the Egyptians oppress them. 10 Come now, therefore, and I will send you to Pharaoh that you may bring My people, the children of Israel, out of Egypt.” 11 But Moses said to God, “Whoam I that I should go to Pharaoh, and that I should bring the children of Israel out of Egypt?” 12 So He said, “I will certainly be with you. And this shall be a sign to you that I have sent you: When you have brought the people out of Egypt, you shall serve God on this mountain.” 13 Then Moses said to God, “Indeed, when I come to the children of Israel and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they say to me, ‘What is His name?’ what shall I say to them?” 14 And God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.” And He said, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, ‘I AM has sent me to you.’”15 Moreover God said to Moses, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel: ‘The Lord God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you. This is My name forever, and this is My memorial to all generations.’ Conclusion: Dont you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself? And if Moses saw a burning bush that talked to him gave him visions and said it was God. Could it have been a marijuana plant? Im a avoiding being the proverbial square peg in the round hole. Most are simply victims of circumstance. Few have ever planned intelligently their future lives. Many or most had stumbled into.whatever job they found open. They have not choose where, in what part of the counrty or the world, they should live. Theyre buffeted about by circumstance. -- If your waiting on God and you are God could it be your waiting on yourself? Stop sinning! Your healed!
