Last paragraph of my declawing paper: “In the end, the well being of a cat is in the hands of its pet parent. It is the responsibility of a pet parent to care for their cat and make decisions in its best interest. There are many great sources of information out there to help an owner find the right solutions to prevent unwanted scratching. There is no need for someone to ever have to turn to declawing as an option. It is a mutilation that in time proves to cause more harm than good. We as a nation must continue to fight to ban this procedure and join the rest of the civilized world. After all, no one would cut the ends off of their childrens fingers, so why do it to a cat? Cats need claws.”
