Last post I described another thought technique in meditation. This technique is actually the other half to the two schools of thought on meditation. The other being the single focus, traditional clear-your-mind technique. And to show you that I am not just making this up as I go along, here is an excerpt from an article published by Trends in Cognitive Sciences: Meditation can be conceptualized as a family of complex emotional and attentional regulatory training regimes developed for various ends, including the cultivation of well-being and emotional balance. Among these various practices, there are two styles that are commonly studied. One style, focused attention meditation, entails the voluntary focusing of attention on a chosen object. The other style, open monitoring meditation, involves nonreactive monitoring of the content of experience from moment to moment. The potential regulatory functions of these practices on attention and emotion processes could have a long-term impact on the brain and behavior. Many studies as shown that both techinques can help improve brain function, concentration, reduce stress, and increase overall emotional well being. So for todays post, I have a song to share. It is one from a unconventional source: a video game to be precise. One of my favorite video games, and lot my favor belongs to the games original score. It is very soothing, beautiful, and relaxing, and I often use some of the songs in my own meditation. Here is one of the songs I use most often. https://youtube/watch?v=ke281MBhpDg Works Cited Lutz, Antoine, Heleen A. Slagter, John D. Dunne, and Richard J. Davidson.
