Last post of the night: I have always been told that many things for me are impossible. I have always had many people doubt me. The first time I mentioned going to the University of Denver everyone laughed and said good luck, youll need it so instead of getting mad I went out and made that dream possible. Then I told everyone I would be going there on a full-ride scholarship for basketball. Again, everyone laughed in dismay. Although I did come to the realization I could not go to college on a sports scholarship I realized the other opportunities for scholarship money thanks to Valeria. Still being doubted by many I applied to 100s of scholarships including the one that changed my life forever the Daniels Fund Scholarship. When applying for the DF Scholarship many people told me it was too competitive and that my chance of winning was small so why even apply. I took this as a reminder my margin for error was small, so I sought help from my two most supportive teachers Anita Mariotti and Casey Schmitz. These two wonderful ladies continuously helped me throughout the process and did more for me than I could have ever asked for. When I finally get a package after months of waiting I am congratulated on being awarded the scholarship that would pay my way through college. Again after starting college and making through my first year I began to ponder internship opportunities and was told youll never get an internship, especially one that isnt paid. And again, I didnt get mad I used it as motivation and now I am able to say I have successfully completed a full summer of interning as an INROADS Intern at CenturyLink as a Software Engineer. Now I am pushing toward my goal of becoming a successful business owner and making my dream a reality. Of course I have many who are doubting me and hoping I fail, but I will persist and push through the adversity I will face. I am eager to learn and I look forward to being mentored by those who have accomplished what I will accomplish one day. This is a reminder to myself that I am the only one who can stand in the way of my dreams and my success.
