Last spring after 27 year old Sean Eldridge (D) was already challenging Congressman Chris Gibson (R), the Poughkeepsie Journal ran a fawning profile about Eldridge and his investments in the Hudson Valley, but failed to tell readers Eldridge was a Congressional candidate. Other news sources at the time had already noted that Eldridges company, Hudson Valley Ventures, was really about getting good publicity and ingratiating himself in a community he had just moved to for a Congressional run. Still the Journal used the glowing headline Love of Hudson Valley Guides Investor when it was known that desire to be a Congressman was guiding Eldridge. At the time I put out a statement exposing the Journals shoddy journalism stating, Eldridge wants to introduce himself to voters as something other than a far-left political hack. The Poughkeepsie Journal gave him a helping hand, with no mention of Eldridges political ambitions. The free press is supposed to be a watchdog for the people not a lapdog for uber-rich liberals.
