Last week, Gavino asked me if I could help socialize a shy and depressed dog named Malcolm. As you can see in the first picture, he was not exactly thrilled to hang out with me and kept his distance, twitching a little when I tried to pet him at first and refusing to acknowledge me. I kept taking him out during the week and just letting him enjoy the grass while talking his ears off (but one was floppy before, I swear). Then on Sunday, I took him on the hike and he had some extra pep in his step and enjoyed sniffing and observing all the commotion. Finally, he let loose a little bit and even rolled around on the grass for a while. On the drive home he fell asleep (but woke up when I tried to snap a picture at a stoplight) and back at the rescue, I RECEIVED A KISS! Well it was more a sniff/nose poke near my mouth but Ill take it! If anyone has the chance to walk Malcolm, it would be great for him to start getting to know other volunteers!
