Last week I finished the fantastic book, The Invention of Wings, by Sue Monk Kidd. It is a historical novel based on two Charleston women, the Grimke sisters. Though a pretty good student in SC, I had never heard of them. Turns out they were relentless speakers against slavery and later for womens rights. I was so proud to learn of such brave women from SC. Tonight we watched the movie, Twelve Years a Slave. I could not be more proud of these women and their determination to stand up for what is right in the face of so many obstacles.
