Last week, I found a letter I had written to a friend thirty-four years ago. It was never mailed. Who knows why! It was in a box of old papers and nonsense that had found its way from my ex-wifes garage to my garage maybe ten years ago. It was on its way to the garbage dump with many old receipts and bills and such. It was in a sealed, addressed envelope, sans postage. Im not sure why I kept it! As I read it, I could hear myself speaking the words. I was talking about feeling confined, controlled and put upon. I suppose as the years have past, my memories of times past have been rose colored in many ways I have no recollection of ever feeling that way in 1980. While I recognized my handwriting, this 34 years ago me was not much like me today. I considered writing myself a letter today to not send, and then wait 34 years and read it. I was sobered by the thought that in 34 years, Ill be 86, and likely not reading much. lol
