Last week I had to decide whether or not Id be open to another studio job after being approached by a recruiter. Turning that down, and realizing that I dont want to work in a studio again, has left me trying to figure out where I want to go with my career. I want to paint things, be able to set a schedule where I am raising my daughter instead of daycare, and live in a place where owning a home and planning for retirement are realistic possibilities, where Ellie can be surrounded by loving relatives. That part of the decision was pretty simple, because a job is one rather small part of the experiences life has to offer. I set out five years ago to become a studio concept artist, only to learn that wasnt what I wanted at all once I got there. The hard part now is figuring out exactly where I want to go if not back into a game/film studio.
