Last week I put a claim in for a lost letter. This letter - TopicsExpress

Last week I put a claim in for a lost letter. This letter contained a crochet pattern I had sold on eBay. This morning I received a letter asking for Proof of the items value, (i.e. what it cost you to acquire, purchase or manufacture.) This can be in the form of a purchase invoice, receipt or details of production, material and labour costs. The letter also said Of the huge volumes of letters and packets we handle, very few encounter a problem along the way - but we take every single failure seriously. My reply - Maybe you can explain why about 25% of mine go missing? The latest is a tracked parcel containing patterns worth over £60. It took me nearly two hours to print these off and now I am going to have to do it for a second time. You will find the claim attached as it is now over 15 working days. I have not made a claim before as it is more hassle than it is worth. However, the amount going missing is getting out of hand. I run a business and not a charity to support Royal Mail. I sell these patterns on my website. They took many hours of work to design, write and produce. If I were to provide you with the details of the production, material and labour costs, it would far exceed the amount you would be prepared to pay to me. Instead I am including a screen of the pattern for sale on my website enfys.me.uk I sell the pattern on eBay for £4.95 as I have to print them off and post them to comply with eBay rules. The extra cost is to cover paper, printing and the plastic folder I put them in. Postage and Packing is charged separately and covers the cost of a 1st class large letter stamp, the envelope it is put in and the 10% I have to pay to eBay. While you are considering my level of compensation, maybe you would like to take into account the cost of the time it took to fill in the forms and prepare the information, the paper and ink it took to print all of the enclosed information off and the two hours it is now going to take to reprint all of the patterns to resend to a dissatisfied customer. I hope that this information is enough to resolve my query and look forward to hearing from you in due course. Yours sincerely, Do you think I was too harsh?
