Last week I received my first royalty statement. Total sales for Wrapped in the Flag from July to December 2013 were fewer than 6,000 copies. This news was a dose of reality. Its taken me a few days to process where I go from here. Ive always believed -- and I still do -- that there are millions of Americans who are aware that the radical right is choking the life out of the GOP and bringing government in DC to a halt. These are the people who would buy Wrapped in the Flag -- they just arent aware of me, my story and my book. Heres the bad news: I dont have the personal resources to buy my own advertising. I dont have the political connections to get through to MSNBC, or Thom Hartmann or PBS. I dont have a rolodex of wealthy folks who will underwrite my efforts. I dont have a publisher who promotes my book. But wait. Heres the good news. I have 4,836 friends on this FB page. I have 3500 more on my personal page. I have 2,927 followers on Twitter. Ive given over 60 interviews and done 40 book events. Every time I talk, people ask me -- why arent you on MSNBC? or PBS? or Amy Goodman? or . . .? Every time I tell them the same thing -- I will be when my book is a best seller. And thats true. But, thats not all of the answer. This book will not be a best seller -- Ive had to accept that. But, it can still have a big impact. This is where you come in. If you havent read my book, order a copy today. The new paperback is less than $15 on Amazon.
