Last week against our better judgement & strictly due to lack of time to take it to our normal dealership, we took my CRV to Victory Honda for what I thought would be not much more than the cost of an oil change & a tire rotation & balance. It was long overdue & I was really tired of looking at that wrench on the control panel. That was the first mistake. The second one occurred when again as a convenience to ourselves we dropped it off for its 9:30 appt. on the way to work. Jeff was sick, but agreed to drive in with me to drop it off. Instead of just dropping off keys, the service guy wanted to talk about the car & its need of new tires (never in a million years would I buy a set of tires from a dealership!!). It has 28,000 miles & is less than 3 years old. What kind of crappy tires did it come with that they were worn out already. They arent ready to be replaced. End of conversation. Jeff signed what he thought were the normal papers to get them started & left my number for them to call with total on repairs. I beat them to calling me as I remember that I wanted to get a new key too. My extended warranty covers one per year & I needed to get it. He said he would check on it & then proceeded to tell me how much tires would cost. I told him NO TIRES. He tried to do the high pressure sales approach & I continued to say no. Thats when he asked, so are refusing recommended repairs? I said, no, I was refusing to buy my tires from them. He called back to say my key was covered but we would need to bring in all keys right then to get them programmed. I said I was at work & Jeff was sick, so no to that too. He then told me I would have to get another appointment for keys. When Jeff picked up car, he wrote a check for $375.00!!!!!! that oil must have been made of gold! Too late to do anything on Friday so on Monday I called Penske Honda & told them I had an A12 service needed & asked if it was more than an oil, & filter change & then tires rotated & balanced. She told me they also had to check the drive belt & there would be a considerable amount of labor charges, but all together would cost $175.00. So when I called service np manager (the same we had dealt with on Friday) he insisted that he had discussed all with Jeff & that by signing the form, he was entitled to perform the 30,000 mile warranty work! I was furious & told him this was unacceptable. I asked what he planned to do for me & he said, if you mean am I going to refund any money, then, no Im not doing that? So final lesson learned, not all local businesses are worth patronizing. Since I know a whole lot of Honda owners, please be very skeptical if dealing with them or any of them for that matter. Meanwhile, if expecting a gift from me for Christmas, I can give you a nice ride in my CRV. Otherwise things are going to be tight! Also, never did get that key!!!
