Last week, members from Bear Yuba Land Trust’s stewardship and trails team visited Clover Valley, BYLT’s newest Preserve, to conduct a baseline survey and explore the public access possibilities. Bordering the community of Alta Sierra on 35 acres off of Brewer Road, Clover Valley Preserve is a lovely example of oak and mixed conifer forests. South Wolf Creek bisects the length of the landscape, providing habitat for aquatic and terrestrial life. In December, the Bach family – owners of the property since the 1970s - generously donated the land to BYLT for the purpose of protecting the land from development forever. With the Clover Valley donation, Bear Yuba Land Trust has secured ten Preserves, totaling nearly 4,000 acres. The Land Trust acquires land through charitable donations or purchase for the purpose of habitat conservation and to provide public access for hiking and the enjoyment of nature.
