Last week most Americans were outraged when California Governor - TopicsExpress

Last week most Americans were outraged when California Governor Jerry Brown signed a piece of legislation that would allow illegal aliens to get driver’s licenses. Lost in the furor over that were a whole slew of bills that were signed into law to help make immigrants illegal stay in our country as pleasant as possible. Here’s what the Governor and his super-majority of democrats have passed recently: AB 4 by Assemblymember Tom Ammiano (D-San Francisco) – Prohibits a law enforcement official from detaining an individual on the basis of a United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) hold after that individual becomes eligible for release from custody, unless specified conditions are met. The state will no longer assist the feds in the deportation process. The special conditions listed in the law exclude those who are accused or convicted of violent felonies, but there’s a loophole: If an illegal can post bail they are free to go. AB 524 by Assemblymember Kevin Mullin (D-South San Francisco) – Provides that a threat to report the immigration status or suspected immigration status of an individual or the individual’s family may induce fear sufficient to constitute extortion. How awesome is this one? Citizens could face charges of extortion if they report illegal immigrants to the authorities. It’s not illegal to break the law, but it is illegal to report lawbreakers. AB 1024 by Assemblymember Lorena Gonzalez (D-San Diego) – Allows applicants, who are not lawfully present in the United States, to be admitted as an attorney at law. Yes, you read that correctly: illegal aliens can practice law in the United States. Well, that’s if you consider California to be part of the US anymore. AB 1159 by Assemblymember Lorena Gonzalez (D-San Diego) – Imposes various restrictions and obligations on persons who offer services related to comprehensive immigration reform. What this vaguely written law does is create a fund for free legal services to illegal aliens. Basically, anyone who makes a false claim of being an attorney or notary public shall be fined $1000 by the state. Those fines go directly to a trust that pays the legal bills of undocumented aliens. SB 150 by Senator Ricardo Lara (D-Bell Gardens) – Authorizes a community college district to exempt pupils attending community colleges as a special part-time student from paying nonresident tuition. This one’s a pretty sweet deal. Illegal aliens get to pay “in-state” tuition rates while American citizens from out of state have to pay full price. SB 666 by Senator Darrell Steinberg (D-Sacramento) – Provides for a suspension or revocation of an employer’s business license for retaliation against employees and others on the basis of citizenship and immigration status, and establishes a civil penalty up to $10,000 per violation. The Satan bill makes it so employers can’t fire illegal alien workers no matter how poorly they perform their duties. The law doesn’t specifically say illegals can’t get canned, but it certainly arms them with insurance against firing. California has passed at least 10 bills that cater to the needs of illegal aliens in the past 2 weeks. How many laws have they passed to protect, preserve, or restore the rights of American citizens? As far as I can tell: one. A reaffirmation of the habeas corpus law.
