Last week on the river line, it was getting dark and I was tired. Cold, hungry and tired, actually. But what else is new on the trapline than all that? So when I floated past a feeder spring that showed decent muskrat travel from it to the main water, my first thought was to set it up tomorrow when I was fresh. But there were six traps left in the canoe and they certainly cant catch anything back in the truck bed. I sucked it up, waded thru waist deep silt to reach the spring run and found places for all six traps. Next mornings check found five rats and one snapped trap. I gotta admit... all I thought about for the next hour or so was that one miss in the empty trap. Considering I picked up several more rats and a mink in the next few checks, pretty good chance I got them all in the end :)
