Last week or thereabout, one of the dailies carried an editorial - TopicsExpress

Last week or thereabout, one of the dailies carried an editorial piece that interrogated the issue of motivational speakers, their stories and books. It’s a common thread that runs all through the stories that at the end the message is always: ‘follow your dream, never loose sight of it, and work hard’! So, I thought, yaani all those people who walk to industrial area daily and camp outside factories gates just to land a job don’t dream and work hard enough? Let’s be realistic, just by listening and/or buying these motivational speakers books, you are enriching their accounts just to be told you aint working hard enough or dreaming big! And that is why I’d prefer listening to Maina Kageni advertising a mortgage package than listening to Obama, Joel Osteen et al because Maina’s messages are practical, these other buggers only massage your ego and make you feel like you are the reason you aint successful and you start questioning and cursing yourself! All I want is my dream house and all I want is someone who will tell me whether CFC Stanbic, HFCK etc, have a mortgage facility that can accommodate my meager earnings to help me get my dream house, not be taught how to dream! Coz ive been dreaming and even got more creative and got wet dreams but still I aint getting me dream house/job! At the end of the day, it’s safe to conclude that one man’s success aint necessarily another’s. I say, try and build a little heaven within your means, don’t help another man build his heaven by massaging and toying with your esteem and emotions!
