Last week, students of the Interpreter Preparation Program and - TopicsExpress

Last week, students of the Interpreter Preparation Program and students from Communications worked together to present inspirational speeches. Here is a blurb from the Dean of the department, Fran Hetrick Students in COM 115 publicly delivered articulate, inspirational, words of gratitude to one or more individuals in their lives who provided them with encouragement and support to continue their education. Audience members heard from husbands thanking their wives, partners grateful for their partners, first generation high school graduates and college attenders, grandmothers appreciating their grandchildren, sons and daughters acknowledging their parents, and students honoring their teachers. PPCC students in IPP professionally, artfully, and accurately interpreted the COM presentations. It was an amazing evening; abundantly full with PPCC students telling (and demonstrating) stories of optimism, determination, persistence, and hope – as related to their higher education journey. Kudos to Regina, Ilah, and Jeannie (this type of program is successful only with much instruction and encouragement in the classroom AND behind-the-scenes planning/preparation). Job well done! (See photo below of the IPP students who interpreted the presentations by COM students).
