Last week, the Education Abroad department took a group of 49 US university students on the Biblical Jordan tour. The day started in Madaba, with visits to the Church of the Map and the Archaeological Park. From Madaba, the students headed to Mt. Nebo where they began their end-of-program reflection activities. Next the group visited the Baptism Site on the Jordan River, where they ran into US Senator Elizabeth Warren who recently concluded a visit to the region. The excursion ended with a night at the Dead Sea, where students spent time reflecting on their experiences together and enjoying the water! AMIDEAST Education Abroad Programs in the Arab World help develop mutual understanding through programs for Americans to study the Middle East and North Africa and interact with the peoples and cultures of the region. At the same time, AMIDEAST Education Abroad Programs strive to develop students’ intercultural and global competence and provide students with living and learning environments that are academically free and stimulating, intellectually rigorous and challenging, and inter-culturally open and accepting. This semester, 49 students from US colleges and universities are currently studying at AMIDEAST/Jordan and participating in activities that promote inter-cultural learning
