Last week the Massachusetts House of Representatives approved a balanced budget proposal for Fiscal Year 2015 that focuses on government accountability, economic growth, sustainable investments, and innovative initiatives. The budget proposal includes significant investments in key programs that ensure we continue to address the most pressing needs of the Commonwealth. I am happy to announce that once again the Fiscal Year 2015 House budget demonstrates the House’s commitment to education. We voted to increase the funding levels of many important education programs including METCO, Regional School Transportation, Charter School Reimbursement, Youth Build, and aid to local libraries. The House budget also included an increase in Chapter 70 aid which will keep school districts at foundation levels of spending and guarantees a minimum increase of $25 per pupil for every district.
