Last week we attended a gathering that occurs monthly which is called Taste of Honey it takes place at the Nags Head Manchester on a Sunday , billed as a dayer with two rooms of soul. The event is promoted by Chris Morgan who does a superb job of spreading the love. He has this great ability to attract many great Djs and a few that travel quite a distance spinning a great variety of tunes which are very much appreciated by Mancunians young and old and a few that are passing through on the tail end of a soul weekend. The beauty of this particular event is the player has a free licence to play whatever they like, its about spreading the knowledge rather than packing a dance floor. Plus legs tend to be tired come Sunday so its a great opportunity to play some beat ballads and bring the soulsters down gently from a heavy weekend. Chris is one of those guys that really does get into the Soul Zone I could watch him dance for hours he really does feel the music and is a joy to watch. when I feel tired I sometimes look at him dancing and give myself a reality check whilst draining some of his enthusiastic energy. I must say I was much impressed with a father and son duo Paul and Jason Kingston. A couple of guys that I had never heard play before. They played a fantastic variety of sounds which reflected to me a great knowledge behind the selection , one that really did hit the spot for me was Randy Crawfords first ever single called dont get caught up in a triangle it was one that really did get my feet moving and is now proving very difficult to source. The Nags head is owned by Sean Brett , a big man with a massive heart , who always has a warm welcome for you and reasonably with priced drinks. You have the perfect duo of promoter and landlord at this event.
