Last week we lost another member of our Osaat family. Dorcas is the mother of Dina sponsored by Tina, Ian and family. She was killed suddenly in a road accident leaving Dina as the only child with no father. Another Ugandan orphan. We had worked over 5 years with Dorcas who was HIV positive and for months suffered with blindness. Osaat supported her in getting her medication balanced and in supporting her trip outside Lira for her eye operation. She was living better than ever as she had started a small business preparing beans food in the local market. Such is the fragility of life in Uganda and we can feel all is going well and something else can go wrong for our families. We can never sit on our laurels with any family. Again Osaat has provided the coffin to ensure she is buried with dignity. If you are feeling sad then reach for your tissues as I tell you more. The grandmother who died last week was the mother of the late Dorcas and grandmother who cared for Dina when she was younger. The following comment came today from Isaac our manager in Uganda. Dina is at the office here today, we have a feeling to send her for boarding next term, she is in a difficult situation at the moment, she does not have a better place to stay as well as some one to take care of her, we remain the only family as usual. Dina is pictured here (rear) as she visited the office when I was there. Our work is very often sad and we have to continually support such children and it is painful but that is exactly why we are there and why we all continue to struggle to raise funds and raise the profile. Please send love and prayers for Dina as she starts a life without her dear mum.
