Last week we toured our newest development in Downtown Downey called The View. Today we celebrated the official dedication. It is 50, two and three bedroom units in our thriving Downtown Downey. It is a great development partnering with National Core. Over 1200 applicants wanted to live here, with 700 having Downey preference ( live or work in Downey ). A LEED certified building that will add a lot to our Downtown. It is one of the nicest buildings in our community. Over $20 million dollar construction with a rooftop community garden, many amenities on each floor and a first floor community meeting room. Moving in should start in January. I was proud to be a part of this with my colleague Councilman Roger Brossmer in the Downtown Sub Committee that approved this plan back in 2009. We had a lot of initial reservations but we were able to move the project forward with many of the things we wanted. #makingthingshsppen #downtowndowney #downeyrocks
