Last weekend I firmly imprinted, with the weight of experience of that weekend, my belief that dreams can be bad for you; its whats called false hope. In that example, nearly half of the hired security guard grunts (I dont separate myself from the status, only the initial mentality) went to the festival for the festival, and I was lucky enough to have no interest in it, as I only needed the money. Among that group, most of them learned how tough their own knees and feet were, and so many acted as those Game of Thrones characters who expected song material when they signed up for war; they straight up ditched the team and the whole goddamned festival was in danger of cancellation as a result. The company was partially to blame, as it was very unorganized at first both in what our protocol and orders were and more importantly, in feeding their guards. I considered leaving a couple of times, but kept thinking about it being a job and not a party. My main point is that its great to have generic hope or optimism, and the positive kind is likely exactly what I had to keep going, but I was lucky to not ever hear about the music, I didnt know Outkast or Modest Mouse were playing. Instead, life is what happens to you when youre busy making other plans. You have to accept that some shit will never work itself out. Sometimes life sucks. I am TRULY used to life sucking, Ive had basically one long emotional drought for my entire school year, and I couldnt be more zen today about it. Life sucks, and no matter how hard I try, I doubt 30 years of practice will make me the next Jimmy Hendrix, but so what? I tinker now and again, and I enjoy the feeling that Jimmy started with before he ever intended to get famous for it. For him it was all about that little thing in life. Peace and love to yall. Follow your dreams if you wish, but get prepared for crushing and horrible disappointment... :D
