Last weekend, an air passenger travelling though Oregon suffered a heart attack just after take off. The panic stricken crew asked if anyone on board had any medical experience. A young Boston-based resident leapt into action, retrieved the planes medical kit, and began treating the patient. Horrified passengers looked on helplessly as the plane made arrangements to land prematurely. Fortunately, the Boston resident did not just have some medical training, he was a full blown emergency room physician. He laid the patient on the aisle floor and proceeded to stabilize the patient. When the plane landed shortly afterwards, emergency vehicles were waiting on the tarmac ready to whisk away the patient. The patient was now comfortable and no longer in crisis. When the young doctor packed up his things, and finally deplaned he was surprised to received a standing ovation from passengers as he went through the gate. Half embarrassed, he waved and went on his way. Great job, Dr. Michael Chung, my little brother! Very proud of you.
