Last weekend at the G20, President Obama promised $3 billion to “help developing nations.” It’s great Obama wants to help the world’s poor; they need it. Worldwide, 2.5 billion poor people don’t have enough food; their children die of malaria and don’t get a proper education. But the president’s not really offering what they desperately need. He wants to help them fight climate change. That is, he wants to spend $3 billion on some of the least useful, slowest and most inefficient ways to help.
