Last weekend saw us play in 2 venues in areas we hadnt played in previously. It was a pretty unique experience playing in a working church on Friday night in Farncombe, but St Johns was a lovely setting for a gig and made for a somewhat different vibe. I think everyone was on their best behaviour during the first half and it was certainly unusual to see the crowd in church pews! However, before long everyone was on their feet clapping along and singing and by the end of the gig people were standing on the pews! Brilliant! Saturday nights gig at Huntingdon Hall in Worcester was similarly unique, in that the venue was a converted church, which retained many of the original architecture, including the pulpit and the pews! Again, this made for an interesting vibe but people soon abandoned the seats and got fully into it with plenty of singing, jumping around and clapping! Just the way we like it! Next up is Steve Rotherys solo album launch party/gig this coming Saturday 20th September in Tring, where Martin willl be singing a few Fish era numbers. Following that will be our gig in Ruislip on Saturday 11th October. Having played there twice before, we are expecting another very busy night with a particularly boisterous and vocal crowd. This gig will feature all tracks from the Fugazi album plus the usual heady mixture of Fish era material. Well also be fulfilling a promise made there last year to play a certain early epic beginning with G on our return this year! After the Ruislip gig Martin will be heading off to join the Steve Rothery Band for their European tour, which takes in Denmark, Germany, Holland, France, Belgium, Spain and the UK. Full details of all the dates and venues can be found at marillion/tour. When Martin returns from his travels, we have a return to The Railway in Bolton on the 22nd November, a favourite venue of the band. We then have gigs in Glasgow (at Ivory Blacks on Friday 30th January 2015) and in Swindon (at The Vic on Saturday 31st January). The Glasgow and Swindon gigs will mark the end of our Totally Fugazi gigs celebrating the 30th anniversary of said album. After that itll be on to our 2015 gigs celebrating the 30th anniversary of the masterpiece that is Misplaced Childhood. Good times indeed.
