Last winter, a water main sprung a leak in front of our house on Calumet. After a while, the city put up a few sawhorses, then later fixed it and threw down some sand. They left some orange cones, but those had to be used to block off an enormous sewer hole at the corner of Calumet and West Vernon. Its been about 6 months, and no-one has fixed the big and dangerous hole next to the crosswalk used by students, walkers, etc. Its very tempting for kids to play there. A few feet down West Vernon, in the middle of the street is another hole, which is in the shape of a manhole, sans cover. I thinks I can see parts of Australia at the bottom, that is when its not filled with toxic fluid, such as antifreeze.
