Last year I lost two really beautiful friends to suicide. It has been difficult understanding 1 person releasing their life then Ive held hands of others while they fight so hard for theirs. Although many factors lead to a suicide decision, I have decided to address the only issue I can affect, being a good friend. Sometimes that is not enough and sometimes it is exactly enough. Women have lost a lot of their sewing circle support over the years with busy on-the-go lifestyles becoming common and expected. Although Facebook connects us, it also isolates us and combined with most media gives us a slant on reality that can have damaging effects on our esteem as women. Last weekend I selected a group of women from my community to join me at my favorite place. Although we didnt sew, we definitely created a circle.
