Last year, I received some second-hand criticism about the heartfelt & tongue-in-cheek anniversary post I wrote because I alluded to being pregnant with Rowan before Austin and I got married. You know, the truth. So THIS year, let me be more direct (and just as heartfelt): Austin Hubbard, thank you for taking me down to the courthouse 4 years ago on my lunch break and marrying me with the help of a haphazard judge in a tracksuit. Thank you for my subway lunch afterwards, our beautiful daughter born 5 months later (who just meowed at me as Im typing this), our healthy baby on the way, and every minute after. I wouldnt change the ups, downs, rights or lefts for any more socially acceptable or politically correct way of doin things because our story is beautiful, special, one-of-a-kind and most importantly, ours. Ive known you were the one I wanted to spend forever worth since our high school prom 8 (EIGHT!) years ago, and Im continually in awe how God has watched over and provided for us both with and without a signed & stamped piece of paper from the courthouse. Thank you for being my other half, my best friend, the one who challenges me to reach further and helps me maintain a healthy perspective in everything but binge watching The Real Housewives. I love you more than youll ever know! Happy Fourth thanks-for-the-tax-breaks Anniversary, and even happier thanks for being the biggest and best part of my life for the last eight years, and making it official for the kids.
