Last year, I resolved to donate a few hours of chair massage monthly to the staff at a nonprofit I wholeheartedly and now whole-handedly support: Doorways for Women and Families. Words dont even begin to describe how incredibly rewarding it is to FINALLY have a skill I can donate (sure, I could edit those newsletters, but who wants to edit after editing all day? Not me). Anyhoo, I strongly encourage you to do the same, if you arent already. If you support a cause, theres a good chance its headquarters are in the D.C. area: Love animals: The Humane Society of the United States is in D.C.! Maybe youre just a cat person? Alley Cat Allies is in Bethesda. Think the USO is A-OK? Its in Arlington! Nuts for nature? The Nature Conservancy has its roots in Ballston. I bet your regulars work for some local groups whose staff is chugging away all day doing the work you support! Get your hands on them. #PSAover
