Last year Pete and I took in another stray cat. He was sweet as can be and of course nobody was looking for him. So he settled in here. A big easy going gray tabby that Pete named Peepers. He was prone to nicknames like Peepshow and Peeperoni. Unfortunately two of our little girl cats decided they didnt like Peepers and terrorized him. So for his own safety, because for some reason he wouldnt fight back, we had to isolate him in our master bathroom. He seemed quite content with that. He had his own food, water and litter box and he would come sleep with us at night because the other cats arent allowed in the bedroom at night. Well this really was not a good life for him so we did something weve never, ever done before. We gave Peepers away. It was a very controlled give away though. To some very, very good friends who were looking to add another cat to their home so their other cat could have a buddy. We werent quite sure how Peepers would respond to a new environment or another cat but we brought him over last Sunday to meet Sergei, who is about as laid back as they come. The initial meeting went very well and Peepers seemed quite comfortable in our friends home so we left him there to see how things would go. Well Im happy to say that things couldnt have gone any better. Peepers is as happy as a clam, him and Sergei are already playing together and our friends just adore their new addition. Peepers new name is Henry and we are thrilled for him. His life will be so much better with our friends and his new cat buddy then it ever would have been with us. It wasnt easy to let him go but we did it for him. Because we knew he could have something better than we could give him. We miss him but we are so happy for him. Peepers, aka Henry, will have an amazing life filled with love, comfort and security and he will have all of that for the rest of his life.
