Last year, SFAF’s syringe exchange program, Syringe Access Services (SAS) gave out 2.5 million sterile needles to clients who often face bigger challenges than their drug use, like poverty, violence, and homelessness. SAS currently operates in 11 sites and distributes 75% of the city’s syringes in an environment where safety—both physical and emotional—comes first. Funds raised for AIDS/LifeCycle help SAS treat clients with dignity, respect, and compassion.
