Last year on Mothers Day I already knew that I was pregnant, but this year it feels more significant to celebrate. My otherwise perfect sleeper startled me awake at 5:36a which he hasnt done in weeks. I immediately became annoyed and then remembered that its Mothers Day. I longed to have a baby for 14 months and remember thinking that surely the babies cries wont be as bad as my own tears over the anguish of struggling to get pregnant. And then he was here. And, whoa, baby cries are hard. I cant help but think of my friends who have lost their moms to illness, friends who have lost babies, or are struggling to become pregnant. Friends who dont have a great relationship with their mom, or are going through trying times with their own kids. I quickly remember how long I prayed to have a baby crying in the nursery down the hall and what a gift from the Lord David has been. Happy Mothers Day to you, moms. And if this day is challenging for you, for whatever reason, I hope the people around you are sensitive to that.
