Last year, thanks to God, VCS celebrated its 25th Anniversary by thanking and giving back to the community each month of school year. We have so much to be thankful for and we want to continue that tradition. As we did last year we will focus our efforts on helping and supporting individual ministries in the Venice area for one month at a time. Each month, we will pray for these ministries and have visits by their leaders and where possible we will have field trips to visit them and assist them in ways that they request. In September we will collect items to supply the Pregnancy Solutions “store” with diapers and baby needs. Executive Director Callie Cowan, a VCS alumna, will address our Chapel. In October we plan to help Agape Flights with preparations for sending boxes of food to Haitian Missionaries for Thanksgiving. We may have a pilot from Agape show a film and talk to students about flying for the Lord. In November we will assist the Center of Hope with a canned food drive and maybe help sort their food pantry and serve Thanksgiving Dinner to needy families. Then in December we will try to make Christmas merry for needy children by supporting the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree Ministry. In January we will support Mrs. Anderson’s Haiti Care Mission by helping to provide small backpacks. In February we will collect blankets for migrant farm workers in partnership with Hearts Without Borders. In March we will write letters to Deployed Servicemen and Women in support of Operation Gratitude. We’re still working on April (perhaps helping a Christian School in China) and will continue to work with the Loveland Center in May. Like last year, this will be a very exciting year. Parents and students should watch for specific announcements and instructions near the beginning of each month.
