Last year, the Children’s Zoo had only 11 full time staff members, most of which were zookeepers who took care of the animals every single day (including on Christmas!). The zoo heavily relies on our volunteers to help work the Zoo Store, outreaches, train, and carousel. In fact, they even maintain the beautiful gardens that brighten up the zoo! As a nonprofit, we are very thankful to reside in the highly supportive Great Lakes Bay Region. In fact, we had enough volunteers last year to cover the cost of 6 FULL TIME staff members!
