Last year when asked by Daily Monitor why lightning was increasing - TopicsExpress

Last year when asked by Daily Monitor why lightning was increasing in Uganda I suggested that lightning was increasing because of widespread deforestation, which was exposing soils that were not previously exposed. I suggested that soils rich in silver could be more prone to lightning . I even suggested that the increasing use of materials with silver in goods such as radios, watches, mobile phones, computers, ornaments and even car wheels which are carelessly disposed of even in places such as Karamoja, could also partly explain the phenomenon. Silver Sulphate is involved in lightning formation in the clouds. I was opposed by a Kenyan Professor. But I have read an article by a BBC Environmental Reporter citing meteorologists and climate experts that lightning in the developing world is increasing by 10% and that deforestation seems to have something to with it. I have yet to get support of my viwe that the increasing careless disposal of silver containing material, and weraring of such materials especially women, has something to do with it. My late father Charles, my wife Jane and son Isaac and myself almost died from a strike by lightning in 1983 because of a silver-coated watch my late father was wearing. I saw lightning coming down like a snake towards my father and I shouted to him. He too saw the lightning snake coming down towards him. He quickly remove the watch from his hand and covered in with a cloth and lay prostate on the floor of his house. When that happened the lightning made a lot of noise at the door as if complaining and quickly retreated to the clouds. Lucky enough no one was outside the house. I am waiting for that day when my theory will get support from experts.
