Late Turner – Painting Set Free at Tate Brit, my favorite museum that fits like a glove (in scale) and covers an encyclopedic historical continuum of art. The watercolors are like breaths on glass, the paintings flames that evoke Monet to late Twombly. Sorry for the cheese. Stupidly, Jackie Wullschlager of the FT, whose work I admire enough, called War. The Exile and the Rock Limpet (cropped below), Turner’s “…most unfortunate, absurd creation.” Funny, I think this piece of writing is hers. Ps: His painting palette resembles a Frank Auerbach. Pss: Do NOT miss show, especially the tiny sketchbooks and drawings ft/cms/s/2/529c9454-3823-11e4-b69d-00144feabdc0.html#slide0 tate.org.uk/whats-on/tate-britain/exhibition/ey-exhibition-late-turner-painting-set-free Photo of Wullschiager courtesy of Jens Juncker jensjuncker/portraits.01.html
