Late, last night, I found out that a valued friend and professional confident of mine is upon deaths door with the acute manifestations of a long-term illness. I wish I could say that his current situation was a surprise, but, unfortunately, all that were close to him knew all too well that this not a question of if, but, rather, of when. Despite what was happening physically, my friend carried on with his personal life and professional career as if he had all the time in the world. He practiced right up to the minute where he could no longer do so professionally due to the acute and chronic need for medications that inhibited his ability to ethically practice. He had the strength and discipline not to take any medication until after he had his last professional appointment of the day. In order to celebrate the life he lived and honor his work ethic, I intend to use his dedication to his profession and the professional oath associated with the same as an example of how I should manage my own practice. Even though he shunned all social media, and would be terrified to know that he was referenced in a Facebook post, I thought it important for his story to be told before he is lost to the ages. Thank you for taking the time to read this post.
