Late, very late in posting the visit to Ontario this past week, I apologize. It was an extremely busy and rewarding 4 days. Here we go, one day, one post at a time. Flew to Toronto on Sunday. Lisa Armstrong from the Ontario TFF office picked me up at 7:15am. Ugh, 4:15 BC time! We made our way to Orillia. First school to visit, OD/Park Sec. Wow, what a great start to a week in ON. Tyler Kudar TF Run organizer at the school is a great guy. Lots of students right now at the school with a merge happening this year. Visited with top fundraising class and had photo taken. Our heartfelt thoughts go out to the Orillia District/Park school and community and to the families of the 4 students that were tragically killed in a car accident the day after we visited the area. Headed from OD/Park to Moonstone Elem. We didnt really get lost, there was construction in Orillia 150 students, k-6, over $3200 raised. Lots of Terry Fox spirit. Great to see energetic Terry Foxer Michelle Mink from Minden who attended the assembly. Greg Dudley the RO has been involved for a long time and very committed to the TF Run. Off to Warminster to visit Elem school there. Had troubles saying that!? I live near New Westminster? Dont pronounce that right either. Another small school, but, a big Terry Fox heart. Over $80,000 raised in their 22 year TF history. Students greeted us and involved in assembly. Terry Foxer teachers Marilyn Chrysler and Beth Kudar (Tylers wife) very passionate about the schools involvment. A very nice reception afterwards in school library. Lisa & I headed back to Orillia for a meet n greet & dinner with local supporters. Organized by Alison Stoneman and hosted by ERA67 restaurant. What a fabtabulous night! Passionate Terry Foxers. Orillia TFR committee members and other volunteers and other community leaders. Sarah & Ian Thompson has a very popular restaurant in the area and opened their doors on what is usually a night closed. A wonderful night full of reflection in seeing Terry in 1980. Lots of photos with most there. Great to meet everyone at the ERA67 restaurant and see Tyler & Beth Kudar again. A very appreciative thank you to Ali Stoneman & Jim Butticci for the amazing TF evening.
