Lately I have been having a series of dreams that share a common theme of owning, buying and renovating businesses. Sometimes I am changing the layout of the store. Sometimes I am clearing stuff out and sometimes I am just moving things around. Usually it is my own business, but sometimes it is someone elses shop. Although I am sure that the theme of these dreams is partially due to the fact that the store where I work is undergoing a HUGE $6 million renovation, but that isnt all of it. Going deeper, I too am undergoing a big reno. I have been changing the way that I do business, so to speak. I am, and have been for sometime, attempting to change the way that I think, the way that I behave and to some degree, the way that I look. Think positive thoughts, smile, dont sweat the little stuff, be a better person kind of stuff. I joined a gym last fall and have been working out. That kind of thing. Last summer and last fall I really felt good about myself. I was indeed in a good place, but along came December and the madness that Christmas usually brings, not to mention the extreme cold weather and the snow. Lately, I have been down on myself; feeling somewhat of a failure. From May until mid December I was walking to work, but it got too cold and I started taking the bus. My evenings and days off used to be productive, but now I mainly hibernate and it frustrates me. These dreams are trying to tell me to relax and chill out. Renovations are a PROCESS. They take time. Also, in order to clean a mess, you often have to make a mess. When renovating, things get dusting as you stir up the dirt and shuffle things around, but after the dust settles and you sweep up the drywall dust, put on a coat of new paint, everything begins to shine and sparkle. My dreams have confirmed to me that I am indeed going through major internal changes and when all is said and done, I will look and feel great!
