Lately I have noticed a few instances in which teachers reference percentages of humans who will reach a spiritual understanding or enlightened space. One writes that 1% of humans will become enlightened, another that 33% of humans will have a deep understanding of self. This comes off to me like an invitation to the in club. The teacher, by positing such a number, implies that the people listening/reading are in that club by paying attention to him/her. In a practice aimed at elevating everyone, these in group tricks are frustrating and misleading. If the goal is unifying people, then telling them theyre part of a special club (one that happens to be run by you to sell books and lectures) is inauthentic. The teachers Ive heard this from are not bad people. I just think they need to pay closer attention to their language and how they frame their brand of spirituality, for it is in branding that they miss the point.
