Lately, Ive been waking up to 4-5 emails a day from people excited or enthralled by the Avant Canada event that is coming soon to St. Catharines. What a complex and rare moment it promises to be: a strong sampling of avant-writers and scholars from a wide array of quadrants of production are assembling to hash out the chance, frailty, horrors, and necessity of the moment. The enthusiasm Ive been picking up from these emails lifts me not just through the day, but propels me to work harder, deeper, more thoughtfully, more carefully. I am constantly being reminded at the opportunity of each moment. There is so much to be done, and so much worth doing. This conference is already reminding why, and how it might come to pass.
