Lately Ive found increasingly less value in significant symbols. - TopicsExpress

Lately Ive found increasingly less value in significant symbols. Specifically, Im talking symbols that refer to spiritual things; for example, people say that an inverted pentagram is the mark of Satan. Same thing goes for the upside-down cross. But heres my argument: if a symbol can be used to take peoples attention away from God, Satan will use it. Doesnt matter if its immediately evil or profane in any way. So even something like the peace symbol can be Satanic if its distracting people from Gods word and encouraging their choice to focus on things like weed and anti-war protests. Im also finding myself less and less offended when people use Christian-inspired imagery to mock the faith that I hold so dear. Why? Because no matter what it represents, its just that: an image. A picture. A design. A reference. But the thing about God is that He is so much bigger than a petty image! So why get all upset when the church is mocked, when it holds absolutely no relevance in the big scheme of things? Besides, it makes my job as a witness easier when Im not constantly cursing peoples names to Hell for making imagery like that, because theyd prefer listening to someone calm as opposed to someone frothing at the mouth with rage.
