Lately many people were asking me if we feed the bees (with sugar). No. No? But how do you do it? Here is our last extraction before winter and beginning of the preparation. We checked the top hive, which looked incredibly good. From a frame like that you can get ca 2kg of honey. But we dont take it until the bottom hive is checked. This time it wasnt crazy good, even some larvaes. We cleaned/extracted the poor frames, the full ones went to bottom. This is what the bees will feed on. The extracted frames (and the ones with larvaes) went to the top. In about a week or two they will be cleaned and the bees will be born. And the top will be put away for the winter. Yes, we would have more honey now if we fed them sugar, but dad believes in taking and giving (this we share), plus he says, he cant be bothered ;)
