Lately we use to hear lot sof news on Service Providers and Organizations providing free services, discount rates or make some special arrangements for PwDs and people with special needs. Its good to know that atleast they care. Our maim concern is even though the special arrangements are in place yet they do not make it feaseble nor fully implement the process. Looking at MTCC itself prove such point. Needless to say the company has fixed sign boards in all of their ferry terminals, transport services in both Malé and Hulhumalé. It always bring happiness to see such sign boards in buildings and in vessels, atleast giving us the hope that they care. But we as parents of PwDs do not find it useful, by the time a PwD enters the ferry terminal the sight is different as designated seats are occupied by people other than whom are suppose to be seated normal ppl and the fate is same in transport vessels. During this school holiday, most of the people alike would choose to go for outings and picnic with their kids. Hulhumalé being the only affordable place for a getaway with kids, we always look for the services and the privilage for children with special needs / PwDs Our humble request to all service providers is not to announce schemes or special arrangements just for name sake if they are not fully ready to implement the same. If the organizations would like to provide services for the PwDs under the CSR Programme, please do something for the well-being and for the betterment of the community. We need to build a better community where everyone including PwDs are given a fair chance and equal opportunities alike.
