Lately, weve all heard this news. U.S. Soldiers currently being sent to Western Africa, will be constructing facilities to treat Ebola patients and providing logistics, engineering and medical skills to help contain the epidemic My eldest will be one of these soldiers and hell be leaving this month. This is happening fast! His contribution will be setting up the much needed communications to bring in support and supplies. Scary! Right? Heres the kick in the teeth... Most times when they get sent to a hazardous zone, they get hazard pay. Apparently, not in this circumstance. Theyll receive nothing extra for hazard. But when they come home...they all have to sit in quarantine for 21 days. Seems risky and hazardous to me. Ive been thinking about putting up a petition for ALL branches to help make sure they receive that extra. I Look at it this way... Why would anyone in command think this very possible Pandemic could be/is less risky then a battlefield? Its a different kind of war with high casualties and scary shit! I dont believe its too much to ask to receive their hazard pay during this crisis. Please feel free to share any opinions, thoughts, and comments. It would be helpful to hit and hear everything, before I start the petition. Or... Maybe Im just very worried mom who will miss her eldest...
